And Physics (See how much I abhor that subject?) was supposed to take Potassium's only lunch break.

But actually, this day turned out pretty well for me.

Cheers.

Why? :(

According to a friend of mine, Pisay will still have classes on Friday. Must be the uniform.

I wonder why Pisay always has to be different. Even the schedule and length of the sem break is different. All sorts of organisms must inhabit it.

Sir Daj also told me that he doesn't like the venue of the prom. He said that our batch should change it to something better. He actually prefers the school gym over Celebrity! I'm not really sure if the fourth years totally agree with him, but some of them have voiced out their negative feelings about the venue and date. Good luck to the batch council and prom committee, I guess. They're under a lot of pressure now.

We're going to study organic chemistry instead of thermodynamics and -insert other lesson here-. Since it isn't as cool as Death Note or Code Geass (Sorry, ROD fans.), I'll just continue watching later. I'm only three episodes from finishing the entire series.

-----

I checked my mail and someone in the pisaydiliman group (in Multiply) posted something about a rivalry between Pisay and Kisay/Que Sci. Since I had nothing to do, I checked the issue out. All that I managed uncover was a comment page for Pisay (in Wikimapia) where people from both factions badmouthed each other.

For one, I didn't even know that a rivalry between Pisay and Kisay existed. Actually, I'm not even sure if this is anything serious. From the looks of the comments, the Kisay people (or whoever posted the "Pisay students suck!" comments [they mainly attacked the students instead of the school]) were probably bored and they didn't have anything better to do. However, if their intention was to attack the school and its students, they did not do a very good job. For instance, their arguments are too shallow and one-sided.

This "rivalry" is extremely immature and childish. I don't see why we should compare both schools or its students. You can't say that all Pisay students are nerds or geeks or dorks. (There will always be geeks or nerds or dorks in any school.) You also can't assume that all students from Kisay post poisonous comments on the internet just to look for trouble. (I know a few students/graduates from Kisay and they are all decent people.)

Pisay people and Kisay people are smart (perhaps even brilliant). No questions about that. However, it's about time those people who keep on badmouthing each other stop this childish act and start acting like the smart people they really are.

Is it safe to leave?

I'm not entirely sure if I can officially kiss this blog goodbye.

It was fun posting here but I think it's time to return to my LJ -points to sidebar-. I doubt that this would be a loss to anyone since people have better things to do than read my blog.

Since this is going to be my last entry (for a week), I might as well make it a bit longer. And perhaps it should be more -- what's the word? Meaningful?

The topic of this entry is based on what one of my friends is going through. In fact, it is this friend's fault that I am still awake (since I had planned to sleep fifty minutes ago). Perhaps some students can relate with this friend. I say 'students' because they don't have to be in Pisay in order to experience this: being compared to other students by one's parents.

I know how it feels like. My mom has done that to me lots of times in the past. She would always say that I could have done better. And she would always add, "Why did you get this score when <insert> got this score?"

And how does it feel? It stings. But as time passes, it doesn't sting as much as the first time.

Then again, I still don't see why some parents do this to their children. What good will comparing their kids to others' do? What's the point of bringing their own children's self-esteem down? Don't they realize that it makes their children feel that they're not good enough? That they don't deserve to be called their children?

No two people are exactly alike. Everyone knows that. Parents who love to compare should just keep quiet. There's no need to rub it in.

I really don't know if this entry makes any sense. Four teachers, namely Sir Talaue, Ma'am Dacs, Sir Guce, and another Bio teacher (I don't know her name since she never became my teacher. ^_^;) accompanied us.

We only spent one hour in the "beach" of Manila Bay, picking up and segregating trash.

Interesting finds for the day:

slippers and shoes - A lot of people really want to be like Jose Rizal. :))

sea shells - Fine, it isn't supposed to be surprising since we were at a place that was once a clean beach but what the heck, I'm easily amused.

wood - And I assumed that people valued this. It was so small.

We went to MoA afterwards. Julia asked to be fetched so it was only Ada and me. We had to sneak her into the mall since she was barefooted (her shoe started 'talking' right after the cleanup). By the grace of God, we were able to make our way to the department store and buy her a pair of rubber slippers.

And the rest can be classified under F-U-N.

Not only did I help save the environment, I also got bonus points and an excuse to go and have fun in MoA.

It is a win-win thing, is it not? :)

Keep moving forward to a brighter tomorrow.

That's actually the motto of Remy, the heroine from Nobody's Girl. If you don't know what it is, it's an anime about Remy, a young girl who goes through a lot of trials -- from getting kicked out of her home to working everyday for the benefit of an old man who 'cares' for her. No EK. :(

Aldrich told me to try this personality test since it's supposed to yield accurate results. Since I have nothing else to do, I decided to try it out. The results are very surprising. For one, I do not consider myself as an analytical person. However, I did see that the results are quite true.

-------

Analytical Thinkers are reserved, quiet persons (this is very true especially if I'm not familiar with anyone around me). They like to get to the bottom of things - curiosity is one of their strongest motives. They want to know what holds the world together deep down inside. They do not really need much more to be happy because they are modest persons. Many mathematicians, philosophers and scientists belong to this type. Analytical Thinkers loathe contradictions and illogicalness; with their sharp intellect, they quickly and comprehensively grasp patterns, principles and structures. They are particularly interested in the fundamental nature of things and theoretical findings; for them, it is not necessarily a question of translating these into practical acts or in sharing their considerations with others. Analytical Thinkers like to work alone; their ability to concentrate is more marked than that of all other personality types. They are open for and interested in new information.

Analytical Thinkers have little interest in everyday concerns - they are always a little like an “absent-minded professor” whose home and workplace are chaotic and who only concerns himself with banalities such as bodily needs when it becomes absolutely unavoidable. The acknowledgement of their work by others does not play a great role for them; in general, they are quite independent of social relationships and very self-reliant. Analytical Thinkers therefore often give others the impression that they are arrogant or snobby ("I thought that you were one of those rich and snobby girls." - MG Valdez) - especially because they do not hesitate to speak their mind with their often harsh (even if justified) criticism and their imperturbable self-confidence. Incompetent contemporaries do not have it easy with them. But whoever succeeds in winning their respect and interest has a witty and very intelligent person to talk to. A partner who amazes one with his excellent powers of observation and his very dry humour.

It takes some time before Analytical Thinkers make friends, but then they are mostly friends for life. They only need very few people around them. Their most important ability is to be a match for them and thus give them inspiration. Constant social obligations quickly get on their nerves; they need a lot of time alone and often withdraw from others. Their partner must respect this and understand that this is not due to the lack of affection. Once they have decided in favour of a person, Analytical Thinkers are loyal and reliable partners. However, one cannot expect romance and effusive expressions of feelings from them and they will definitely forget their wedding anniversary (this applies to birthdays ^_^;). But they are always up to a night spent with stimulating discussions and a good glass of wine! To my surprise, I saw that there were only six people from Potassium. Anyway, we marched around the oval and then we headed to the gym for the closing ceremony and games.

Like last year, I only helped my batch in Cramming Time. A Pisay alumnus gave a speech, and a lot of people were recognized -- from the people who got into the Director's List to the Pisay graduates who have the right to brag that they're cum laudes/magna cum laudes/summa cum laudes. Oh, and don't forget the teachers who have been teaching in Pisay for so many years.

The talent show was fun. As much as I want to say that all of the performances were awesome, only a few gave "WOW!" performances, a lot gave "It's all right." performances, and one gave a "Er...at least confident siya." performance. And I also saw Keziah model. (She should have won the Best Female Model Award. Well, at least that's what I think.)

The afternoon was spent in the guidance center (since there's aircon). Since we had nothing else to do, Francis (Infante), Vinz, Oona, David, and I "let destiny take its course" by playing around with the list of courses that PSHS scholars are allowed to take in college. Sheesh, everyone else kept on getting courses that suit them. I, on the other hand, kept on getting courses such as plant pathology, soil science, agronomy, and PACKAGING ENGINEERING. Talk about unsuitable. And I didn't even know what agronomy is until Sir Chuckie told me. :))

Humanities Week: Day 3

Today went from SAD to FUN.

To be blunt, Potassium's Dikum performance was a disaster. A class that fails together stays together. We'll redeem ourselves in the near future (hopefully).

Congrats to CESIUM, RUBIDIUM, and STRONTIUM. All of you gave such awesome performances.

The Sayaw Interpretasyon of the fourth years was worth watching. I'm actually nervous now. I can't dance at all. And I'm not actually the best lights person. What's going to happen to me next year?

Going back to the Sayaw Interpretasyon, I was very surprised with the results. I also knew that my team would be forced to burn under the sun since we would have no shady place to cool off.

And really, I enjoyed every second spent under the sun. I enjoyed watching my classmates suffer from headaches, nosebleeds, and thirst. I enjoyed tolerating their tempers.

Really, something like this should happen again. -sarcasm-</sarcasm>

At 0800 hours, we were required to march into the oval by house. Green Team was supposed to be the sixth house to march (since Ruby is in the team) but for some reason, we were the last to march.

As for the performances, I really can't comment on any of them since I wasn't able to watch. Most of my time in the oval was spent on hunting for shade and trying to ignore the fact that I was getting darker by the second. Ah, let us not forget the yearning for escape from the oval and from the CO's who prevented anyone from leaving.

We were able to leave the oval though...for a few minutes. Before I knew it, I was running back to the oval with my "lunch", drinks, bag, and Kit's bag and jug. Luckily, Justine, Oona, and Kit were able to make it back too.

For the first time, I actually took part in the games. Even though we lost at our first match in the Tug of War, it was still fun. As for the Premyo o Bayong, Justine said that we should respect the game for a while. After answering two questions correctly, we purposely made the wrong choice just to get ourselves eliminated. The rest of the morning was spent under the shade of the kalachuchi trees. But it made no difference. My arms and my face were already badly burnt by the sun.

And finally, we were free from that hellhole commonly known as the Pisay oval.

And nothing really happened after that besides resting and tree planting.

What lessons have I learned from this day? Sunblock is important. The same can be said for water. And the oval is the worst possible venue for the opening ceremonies and the games if the weather is sunny.

Anxiety is a disease that can kill.

Since the annual Humanities Week is just around the corner, it is necessary for Potassium to practice hard for Dikum. So far, the singers - or rather, the "songers" - are already good. As for the instrument people (we have no cool name), that's a very different story. ^_^;

I'm really nervous. I still tend to make mistakes since I always get lost once the "songers" start singing. I can barely hear myself playing and my confidence dramatically decreases. The fear of messing up is overwhelming.

Ada and the others want to remake my instrument again. Apparently, the Activade bottles produce high notes. We wouldn't want the "songers" to sing in falsetto thoughout the entire song. Have mercy on their vocal chords!

Another problem: Aldrich is supposed to play the same instrument as I. The leaders fear that the audience won't be able to hear my playing if I were alone. Even though the thought of playing alone still bothers me, I am infinitely bothered with the fact that Aldrich and I are not synchronized whenever we try playing together. So much for making life easier.

Good luck to Potassium. Good luck to me.

Desperation?

For the sake of doing (and submitting) my STR RRL, I have decided to stay at my grandma's house.

Not too desperate yet, huh?

Since I was too impatient to wait my cousin (he lives with my grandma) to come home from school to help me connect my laptop to the internet, I barged into his bedroom and (miraculously) managed to establish a connection.

Desperation? For some reason, there’s something wrong with the codes from the layouts in Blogskins. Either that or I haven’t done something that I should do to the codes.

Potassium, well, less than half of Potassium had Dikum practice at Courtney’s place today but Pisay was the original meeting place. For obvious reasons, I decided to ride in Oona’s car. John John came along. We stopped by McDo for a while to eat breakfast (the second one for me [yes, I am a glutton]).

Practice was supposed to end at 1700 but Oona and I decided to leave at 1630. She still had to do the Chemistry lab reps and I still had to go somewhere.

And I just got home.

And I haven’t done any of my homework yet.

And I’m already sleepy.

So I’ll just sleep now and I’ll cram my homework tomorrow.

It's a good plan, isn't it?

And yes, that's a rhetorical question.
